LOCATION: Tshikapa (Kasaï)

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Short Term Contract / renewable yearly

1. CONTEXT

SODEICO Sarl, a company specializing in the recruitment and provision of qualified personnel, is recruiting on behalf of one of their clients for a Program funded by USAID/BHA (United States Agency for International Development/Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance) a Strategic Learning Manager. The client is a global humanitarian organization that works with people in poverty and distress to create justice and positive change through empowering partnerships and responsible actions. For this position Based in Kasai, DRC; the client seeks passionate, engaged and experienced candidate who embodies our values of connectedness, courage and compassion.

2. ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION

The Strategic Learning Manager will be under the supervision of the Strategic Learning Advisor.

3. DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

The Strategic Learning Manager will oversee and participate in the following duties:

1. Collaboration and Learning:

    • Collaborate with the technical coordinator and M&E Lead to establish a culture of collaboration and learning across all projects in the implementation area.
    • Facilitate regular coordination meetings and learning events to promote cross-project knowledge sharing, collaboration, and joint problem-solving.
    • Support the identification and documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from different projects.

2. Active and Adaptive Learning:

    • Ensure that the activity incorporates active, intentional, and adaptive learning approaches to improve program effectiveness and impact.
    • Facilitate regular reflection and analysis sessions to capture and integrate learning into program design and implementation.
    • Promote the use of innovative learning methodologies and tools to enhance learning outcomes.

3. Peer-to-Peer Learning and Knowledge Sharing:

    • Facilitate platforms and mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing among project staff, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Organize learning events, workshops, and communities of practice to foster the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices.
    • Support the development and dissemination of knowledge products, including case studies, reports, and learning briefs.

4. Activity-Based Capacity Strengthening:

    • Collaborate with project teams to identify capacity gaps and develop tailored capacity-building plans.
    • Organize training sessions, workshops, and mentoring programs to strengthen the knowledge and skills of project staff in relation to collaboration, learning, and adaptation.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building efforts and make recommendations for improvement.

5. Evidence and Data Utilization:

    • Promote the use of evidence-based decision-making by ensuring that data and evidence are effectively collected, analyzed, and utilized.
    • Support the development and use of monitoring and evaluation tools and systems to capture relevant data and track program progress.
    • Facilitate the dissemination of research findings, evaluations, and impact assessments to inform programmatic decisions.

6. Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA):

    • Champion the principles of collaborating, learning, and adapting throughout the organization and among partners.
    • Support the integration of CLA practices into program planning, implementation, and reporting.

Foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and adaptation within the organization.

4. BASIC SKILLS

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align learning initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Learning Design and Facilitation: Proficiency in designing and facilitating effective learning experiences, including workshops, trainings, and communities of practice.
  • Knowledge Management: Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and practices to capture, organize, and share organizational knowledge and best practices.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and e-learning modules using a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies and tools to track program performance and measure the impact of learning initiatives.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data to derive meaningful insights and inform decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Ability to foster collaboration and build partnerships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and peer organizations to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Change Management: Skill in managing change processes and fostering a culture of learning and adaptation within the organization.
  • Communication and Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts and findings to diverse audiences.
  • Research and Learning Trends: Familiarity with current research and trends in organizational learning, adult education, and knowledge management.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to plan, implement, and evaluate learning initiatives effectively

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment;

5. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as organizational development, human resources, adult education, Training and Development or a related discipline;
  • Minimum of 5 years of general experience with learning and development principles, methodologies, and best practices in Learning and development for Ngo or international organizations;
  • Minimum of 3 years of specific experience within a manager position in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs, preferably in a corporate, nonprofit, or educational setting;
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Familiarity with Training and Development software and tools.

6. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • Must be fluent in French, both oral and written;
  • Intermediate Level of English is required;
  • Mastering of the local language will be an asset

7. COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Detailed understanding of the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams…);
  • Vision conference app or online tools meeting.
