Infant mortality: Congolese women called to respect family planning

Kinshasa, May 11th, 2023 (CPA) – Congolese women were called on Wednesday in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the NGO « Dieu en Action », to respect family planning in order to reduce the infant mortality rate as well as poverty, during a weekly meeting held with its members.

« Family planning is of paramount importance in the life of a woman because it helps her to space and reduce births as well as for her good health and prolong her life, » said the coordinator of this structure based in the municipality of Ngaba, Bobette Kwasa.

This activity aims to raise the awareness of women on the spacing of births since those who experience close births often end up dying and leaving the children to their sad fate, she said.

« Close births not only lead to death but also to poverty. Because having many children does not guarantee you a better life. This will make it impossible for you to take care..
